#IFBK23 – Internationaler Fahrbibliothekskongress // International Mobile Library Congress in Cuxhaven 2023

Am 8. und 9. September 2023 fand in Cuxhaven der zweite internationale Fahrbibliothekskongress (IFBK) in Deutschland statt. Veranstalter war die Fachkommission Fahrbibliotheken im Deutschen Bibliotheksverband (dbv) in Kooperation mit der Stadt Cuxhaven. Schwerpunkt war neben einem vielfältigen Vortragsprogramm der fachliche Austausch zwischen den Beschäftigten in den Fahrbibliotheken sowie ein buntes Veranstaltungsprogramm für die breite Öffentlichkeit direkt im Hafengebiet und „hinterm Deich“.

Fahrbibliotheken gelten nicht nur in der Fachöffentlichkeit immer noch als Exoten – und teilweise sogar als aussterbende, veraltete Spezies. Das Fahrbibliothekstreffen bot erneut die Gelegenheit, diesem Eindruck entgegen zu wirken und die Vielfältigkeit, die Leistungsfähigkeit und die Modernität von Fahrbibliotheken einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren.

For the second time, the German Libraries Association (dbv) commission for mobile libraries, in cooperation with the city of Cuxhaven, organized an international symposium especially for mobile libraries. In addition to a varied lecture programme, the focus was on the exchange of information between the employees in the mobile libraries and a colourful programme of events for the general public close to the harbour at the North Sea.

Many people consider mobile libraries being exotic – and in some cases even extinct, obsolete species. The „Fahrbibliothekstreffen“ near the harbour of Cuxhaven offers the opportunity to counteract this impression once more and to present the diversity, efficiency and modernity of mobile libraries to a broad public.
